I moved to LA from Duluth, MN to pursue my dream of becoming
a professional makeup artist who is skilled & knowledgeable in all
types of makeup; beauty, high fashion, avante garde, character, hair
work (hand laying facial hair & working with wigs & other hair pieces)
& hair styling, prosthetics, special effects (my favorite), airbrush,
you name it.
In 2007 I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) with a
Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre with an Emphasis in Makeup
Design. I worked on almost every production in those four years. The
only time I didn't work on one was when I studied abroad in Florence,
Italy for a semester. Other than that semester I was always doing
makeup or any of the numerous backstage crew positions that were
needed. Most always I was doing makeup and hair. I designed the makeup
and hair for three shows during my time at UMD; "Kiss Me, Kate", "Handing Down
the Names", & "The Heidi Cronicles".
Throughout college I always had at least two jobs, for awhile three.
After graduating I continued to work my multiple jobs basically every
day. I rarely had a day off. Most days I would go from one job to the
other with a small break between or no break. I loved it though. I'm a
workaholic. I love to work. All my work money was being saved up for
my big move to California.
In September of 2008 I moved to LA to attend the Cinema Makeup School
to further my education and become a well rounded makeup artist. I
took the Master Makeup Course as well as the Digital FX Course. While
at school, I won 1st place in special effects for my makeup design and
application. I started school October 27, 2008 and completed school
March 13, 2009. I loved every minute of it! I plan to continue living
in LA and continue doing makeup for film, television, music videos,
commercials, fashion shows, photo shoots, etc. I do it all. Though
what I really love and really want to do more of is film and
television. I'm very hard working, fast, professional, friendly,
patient, responsible, easy going, and a total perfectionist. I never
give less than my best. I'm always wanting to improve and make things
better and better.
